PROJECT: "MODERNISATION OF THE RAILWAY SECTION SOFIA - ELIN PELIN" FINANCED BY CEF
GRAND AGREEMENT № INEA/CEF/TRAN/M2014/1048809
The project "Modernisation of the railway section Sofia – Elin Pelin" funded by CEF with beneficiary NRIC was approved In July 2015 by "Transport and mobility" directorate in the European Commission.
The grand agreement was signed on 09th November 2015 by NRIC and 18th November 2015 by INEA.
The project will be implemented in the period 01.07.2015 – 31.12.2020 and includes 7 main activities:
Activity 1 - Project Management and Communication
Activity 2 - Technical design for the Sofia-Elin Pelin railway section
Activity 3 - Land acquisition
Activity 4 - Construction works
Activity 5 - Works supervision
Activity 6 - Interoperability supervision
Activity 7 - Archaeological monitoring during construction works
Total cost of the project: 67 984 600 EUR
Sources of funding:
Grant from EU- CEF Transport co-financing - 57 786 910 EUR
State budget - 10 197 689 EUR
Specific objectives of the modernization of the railway section Sofia-Elin Pelin, are improving safety of railway section, increasing speed along the railway section, increasing capacity and reduction of the environment pollution.
The kick off meeting with Project manager of INEA Mr. Antonio Garcia-Suarez took place on Thursday 28th January 2016 on 1st floor in NRIC Head Quarter, Sofia, where the Project implementation unit members and NRIC management team, responsible for CEF projects were introduced and the progress of the projects Sofia – Elin Pelin and Sofia – Voluyak was presented. Also common rules for payment and reporting, time schedule, conclusions, recommendations and draft action plans for the next month were discussed.
